GO-FAME is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit theatrical producing and training program for youth, ages 8-18.
Our goal is to work with the diverse youth population in Long Beach and bring them together in this collaborative art form.

We provide a safe place for budding young artists to explore the arts and develop their skills. Through our fully-staged musical productions, young performers work with professional directors, musical directors and choreographers to create a fun, exciting, high-quality show. Kids, ages 8-18 learn about and experience theatre from audition to performance, both on stage and behind the scenes. Our performers learn to be responsible, considerate team players. We participate in our community through a variety of programs including after-school outreach programs and collaborations with schools and other youth and arts organizations. We are working to create a fun, safe and happy community of performers and future patrons of the arts.

Mission Statement

To offer young people of all backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles the opportunity to produce professional-quality theatrical productions, study many aspects of performing and visual arts,
develop valuable life skills, and explore career options in the arts while providing outstanding entertainment to the community.

GO-FAME was originally started as an after school drama program at Minnie Gant Elementary School. The program is run by Kathy McGuire, Managing Director and Elaine Zofrea, Artistic Director. Kathy's 20 years as a business professional and Elaine's 25 years in professional Theater in NY and CA, brought us together to form this nonprofit company.

We produced Alice in Wonderland in October 2005. Sixty students from grades 1-5 performed to full audiences in the University Theater at CSULB. Over the years, we continued to produce one full-scale musical each year and the cast grew to about 90 students per show. In 2010, The Velveteen Rabbit was our best show yet and every show was nearly sold out. In addition to our shows, we have provided after school classes such as Introduction to Drama, Animation and Ballet Folkorico and adopted the annual school talent show.

We began to explore the possibility of incorporating and taking our show beyond Gant Elementary in 2007. Finally in May 2009, we decided it was time.
Our first community youth show was co-produced with the All American Melodrama Theater in Shoreline Village. Knott's Preserved (Teen Edition) was a rollicking good time and melodrama has worked its way into our show season. We have continued offering production opportunities to local youth. Past shows include Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Alice In Wonderland, Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr., All Shook Up, Once Upon A Mattress and many more.

In addition to our show season, we are proud to offer workshops and camps through the GO-FAME Performance Lab at the GO-FAME Studio located in the Parkcrest Center.
