GO-FAME Youth Theatre Company Audition Guidelines

Casting is one of the areas GO-FAME tries to teach participants about how theater works in the professional world.

  • Youth are required to attend on the scheduled audition dates in order to be considered for a role in a production.
  • Casting is done from the qualified auditioners based on their audition.
  • If we are unable to fill all roles from the original scheduled auditions, additional youth may be asked to audition at callbacks or additional auditions may be run.
  • Youth unable to attend the scheduled auditions who would like to be considered for uncast roles can submit a picture, audition form or resume, availability list, and a letter explaining why you were unable to attend scheduled auditions.
    • This must be received prior to the first audition date.
    • No videos will be accepted in place of a live audition.
  • Please refer to the website for specific requirements for each production’s audition.

Any further questions should be sent to ezofrea@GO-FAME.org

General information:
  • A Parent or Guardian must be present to sign permission forms.
  • It is our goal to teach children about theater. However, we are unable to give a part to everyone who auditions. We must offer a certain level of production for our ticket price to continue our program.
  • We encourage you to join us for auditions and try even if you have never acted before. Auditioning, whether you get the part or not, is an important part of learning about theater.
  • We will be offering a variety of classes throughout the year that could help you in future auditions and shows or just teach you more about theater. Visit our Classes & Camps page for class schedules.
What to Bring and Wear:
  • You must have a prepared song to audition. This can be a Broadway show tune or any standard. You can bring a CD or i-pod with no vocals (accompaniment/karoke version) or sheet music of your song.  If you bring sheet music, we will  provide an accompanist to play for you.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes you can move freely in, you may learn a simple dance.
  • Please be prepared to fill out a calendar with all conflicts you might have with other activities such as school events and sports.

Information you need to know about our shows
  • Our participation fee for a show is $150 and covers instruction, costumes and insurance.
  • In order to provide this quality of production for this low participation fee, we require every family:
    • to do 15 hours of preshow labor. Preshow labor includes doing publicity, set construction, costume sewing and more.
    • to volunteer for assignments during 2 of our performances. Performance volunteers are asked to help backstage, usher, work concessions and more.
    • to help with either load-in or take-down of the show. Load-in volunteers will help transport and set up sets, costumes, props, etc. into the performance space. Take-down volunteers will help transport and remove sets, costumes, props, etc. out of the performance space.
  • Not all performers will be called for all rehearsals. Age will be considered, when we can, for rehearsal times.
  • The final week of rehearsals will be every night until 9:30 with no one excused from attending.
  • Scholarships and financial arrangements are available. Contact Elaine Zofrea or Kathy McGuire for an application.
