  • ​No experience necessary. Just smile and give it a try!
  • Review the Character Breakdowns  below and think about which roles you might be interested in.  If you look up thhe show on the internet please remember that we will be doing the Young @ Part family version.
  • In a MUSICAL you will be singing in large and small  groups.  There are also some parts that require singing alone or with one other person so we will need to hear you sing  
  • Prepare a song to sing for us.  Your song should be one chorus and one verse  also known as 32 bars if it is a uptempo song.  16 bars of a slow Ballad. Pick a song you like to sing from a show or musical.  Disney movies have lots of good choices. The song should show off your best voice.  No pop music !     
  • Practice , Practice Practice!!!  Memorize the words. Feel free to act your song.   
  • Bring  The music you practiced with to the Audition.  Sheet music to give our accompanist or your music on a CD, or i pod or phone. Download the Karaoke version don't depend on our WIFI.  No other vocals on the recording.  We want to hear you.
  • We may ask you to read something for us  a poem or pages from the show.
  • And we really like Jokes so prepare a good one to tell us us 

   

 AUDITION APPOINTMENT​​S

Appointments are not required but will reduce your wait time.   Appointment people will be taken first and others will be added into groups that are not full.  Appointments are available on the following link.  They are set up like a class of 5 people every 15 min.  Go to the link and save your space!

        Audition Information

  • Please be sure to include contact information including a phone number and email address that you access frequently.  We send the cast list here!!

  • We understand that you may have other opportunities and activities. If you have a preference about your role, be sure to let us know on the form. If you indicate a role you would like or no preference and are offered the role, we expect you to accept it. 
  • Be sure to let us know any previous experience you have had . Feel free to attach your performance resume, if you have one or just fill in the form.
  • Please note that NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. We are an educational theater company and our goal is to help kids learn about and explore theater while providing outstanding entertainment to the community.​ 


      Conflict Calendar

  • Please indicate any possible conflicts during the rehearsal period including school, sports, scouts, holiday and family events. Don't forget graduations and end of year activities.
  • Be sure a parent or guardian signs!
  • Too many conflicts or conflicts on mandatory days mean you probably don't have time to do well in this production and we may not be able to cast you. Excessive conflicts added after the audition may result in  being moved out of a role or the production.

AUDITIONS

Auditions are free of charge and open to the public. All auditioners must be at least 8 and under 19 years old at time of audition. 


​FINANCIAL COMMITMENT

1. Participation Fee

Major Musical: $225 per participant

 Studio Show: $150 per participant

(discounted rates are available for families with 3 or more participants) 

2. You will also need to write a Volunteer deposit check for your volunteer hours.

Major Musical: $200 deposit

Studio Show: $150 deposit

Add'l Performers: $50 deposit

3. We are able to offer a limited number of scholarships through grants and the generosity of donors. Payment plans can also be arranged. Please contact  us for more information.

COSTUMES

Costume rental fee is included in your participation fee and covers rental, cleaning and materials to build your child's costume. All costumes remain the property of GO-FAME.


VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT

To keep participation fees affordable, we ask for your time as a volunteer.


* Preshow: Tasks such as costumes, props, set construction, and more.


* Show: Cast supervision, stage crew, concessions and more.


* Load-in: bringing sets, costumes to performance facility


* Strike: clearing everything out of the performance facility


Major Musical  (two parts)

(1) 20 hours Preshow or 4 Show shifts

(2) Load-in OR Strike


Junior Players

(1) 10 hours of Total Work (can be combination of Preshow and Show)

(2) Load-in OR Strike


Studio Show (two parts)

(1) 15 hours of Total Work (can be combination of Preshow and Show)

(2) Load-in OR Strike


If you have more than 1 performer in the show, we ask you to work either 5 additional preshow hours or 1 additional show shift for each additional performer.


BACKGROUND CHECKS

​​GO-FAME is committed to the safety and protection of all participants, volunteers, audience members, and staff. We conduct criminal background checks of all volunteers and staff who have direct, supervisory contact with minors participating in our programs. All production staff members are cleared using LiveScan fingerprint-based background checks. Volunteers are cleared through Verified Volunteers.


TICKETS

GO-FAME does not require a certain number of  ticket sales but we depend on ticket sales to fund the shows. We ask you to bring at least 15 friends or family members.  You will want your family and friends to see your show.   

*New this show we will reward a prize to the person who has sold the most tickets for each week.  Flyers will be sent home with details!!


ATTENDANCE

Attendance at all rehearsals you are scheduled for is mandatory unless we cast you with excused absences on your calendar. We are unable to cast performers who have too many conflicts. Unexcused or last minute absences may result in removal from a lead role or exclusion from the scene rehearsed while absent.

PREPARING TO AUDITION for: A Musical  
Musicals are larger shows and bigger productions. They rehearse longer and Perform at a larger theatre like Cal State Long Beach's University Theatre.   The fees and volunteer hours are more.

 AUDITION APPEARANCE

​​​Dress nicely for your audition. Clean and comfortable.

  • Be prepared to move. We may play some movement games or ask you to learn a dance.
  • Wear closed-toe shoes! No sandals or flip-flops! No boots or Uggs!
  • No experience necessary. Just smile and give it a try!

Everyone who wants to be in the show must audition.

 Don't worry The audition is set up to be a teaching form.

 So if you've never done it we will show you how.  

This is NOT a competition. It's a chance for you to sing for us and tell us about yourself. So we can get to know you and give you a part that that we think you'll be good in.

 Remember we want to cast you but we can't if you do not audition.​​

 AUDITION DAY for a Musical 

  • Arrive about 15 min before your audition to check in and to fill out/or turn in forms  at front desk
  • Have a seat in area designated and wait for your group to be called into the room.
  • Be sure to warm up your voice and sing your song a couple of times on your way to the audition.
  • We will show you exactly what to do in the room (don't worry if it's your first time)
  •  The group should be done in about 15 min.  Then we will release  you with information if we need to see you again or about when the cast list  will be emailed to you. 
  • Please send an email to either accept or decline your role. If you aren't sure, please consider attending the first rehearsal to learn about your role before deciding to decline.   
  • We will recast as necessary for any open roles.


Please Note: We are auditioning for all parts.

There maybe of some parts  double cast if necessary.

We will only be casting to the needs of the show.

This means we may not be able to cast everyone who auditions

but we always try!
